How to make Siomai
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 30 to 40 minutes
yields: 16 siomai
1/2 pound ground pork
2 oz grated carrots (not 4 oz like what I said in the video)
2 oz grated celery
2 tbsp cornstarch
ground pepper
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
4 oz finely chopped shrimp
1 egg (if you prefer)
16 wonton wrappers
Combine all ingredients except wrappers. Follow my cooking video on how to make siomai. Damp the center of the wrapper, place 1 tsp of the siomai mixture at the center. Gather the sides and let it meet at the center. Press meat into the wrapper making sure it is stable and packed. Steam between 30 to 40 minutes.
Serve with your favorite siomai sauce.
