How to make beef with broccoli
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time:
Yields: Serves 4 with steamed rice
1 pound beef chuck roast – cut into ½ inch slices
½ cup cornstarch
salt and pepper
1 large (1 ½ cups) yellow onion, peeled and cut into half rings
1 pound broccoli, cut into small pieces
¼ cup canola oil
½ cup water or beef stock
2 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp sesame oil
Pre heat oil for 2 to 3 minutes until hot.
Toss beef with cornstarch, salt and pepper in a bowl.
Add beef slices to the pot and cook for 5 minutes until brown.
Remove excess oil from the pot.
Add onion and cook for a minute.
Add broccoli, stir, cover and cook for 2 ½ minutes.
Add beef slices.
Add oyster sauce, sesame oil and sugar into the bowl with left over cornstarch from
beef slices. Add water. Dissolve well.
Add the mixture into the pot.
Stir. Adjust heat to low.
Cook for another 2 minutes.
Serve with steamed rice.
