ZERO EGGS BREAD PUDDING

NO EGGS STEAMED PUDDING

2 cans evaporated milk
3/4 cup sugar
4 tbsp cornstarch (please make it 6 if your tbsp is small)
1 tbsp vanila extract
1 tsp lime zest
pinch of salt
2 hamburger buns (4 small pcs of pandesal) equivalent to 2 cups – crumbled

Combine milk, cornstarch, sugar vanilla extract in a pan.
Using low heat, pre heat milk for 2 minutes until cornstarch and sugar is dissolved.
Add crumbled bread
Add lime zest and salt.
Pour into the pan.
Steam for 30 minutes.
Cake will still be runny after steaming.
Cover with foil and chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours until set.
Slice and serve.

FOR THE CARAMELIZED SUGAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAKE PAN
1/2 cup white sugar
Place a round cake pan (9 inch diameter) directly into the stove
Add sugar and swirl.
Turn on heat and use low heat.
Caramelize for 45 seconds.
Swirl around to cover the bottom of the pan and set aside to set.
