HANDAAN STYLE MEATBALLS
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Yields: 26 meatballs
HOW TO MAKE THE MEATBALLS
4 tbsp cooking oil
1 medium size onion,
1 cup grated carrots
5 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper
1/2 cup green onions
Knorr Liquid Seasoning
2 lbs ground pork
1/2 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs
Pre heat cooking oil for a minute
saute onions for 2 minutes then add carrots and cook for 2 minutes
Add garlic, cook for 30 seconds
Add knorr if using and season with ground pepper
Cook for 30 seconds before adding green onions.
Cool down completely.
Meanwhile combine pork
Add breadcrumbs and eggs.
Add the cooled down vegetables
Form into 2 oz meatballs.
Fry for 3 minutes until brown outside but raw inside.
Repeat until all meatballs are half fried/cooked.
LET’S MAKE THE SAUCE
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
4 tbsp cooking oil
1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp hoisin sauce
salt and pepper
1/2 cup ketchup
hot sauce – optional
2 cups pork broth
Slurry ( dissolving annato powder, 1 tsp cornstach and 1/2 cup water together)
Saute onions and bell pepper for 2 minutes
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add butter and melt for 30 seconds.
Season with salt and pepper
Add hoisin sauce
Add ketchup
Add hot sauce if using
Add broth
Bring to a boil about 2 minutes
Adjust heat to medium and add meatballs back to the pan.
Cook between 8 to 10 minutes until meatballs are cooked internally.
Add slurry and keep whisking until sauce has thickened.
turn off heat.
Serve.
