SPAGMGHETTI – FILIPINO SPAGHETTI WITH SPAM
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes or less
Yields: 12 to 15 servings
5 tbsp cooking oil
1 large onion, peeled and chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 lbs ground pork
salt and pepper
1 can lucheon meat, chopped
12 oz (10 pcs) Filipino red hot dogs, sliced thinly
1 large can (15 oz) tomato sauce
2 cups chicken broth
3 tbsp fish sauce instead of salt
3 dried bay leaves
2 to 4 tbsp sweet pickle relish
1 tsp or more ground pepper ( I later added more ground pepper towards the end)
1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar (I would prefer 1/2 cup than 1/4 cup)
1 cup tomato ketchup ( i would have added an extra cup to make it tastier)
3 tbsp tomato paste
1/4 cup to 1/2 cup sugar – i would have added extra sugar to make it sweeter to my liking.
1 cup tomato ketchup – ( I would have added another 1 cup to make it tastier)
8 oz grated or diced cheddar cheese (I used cheese melt)
Pre heat oil for a minute.
Cook onions for 2 minutes.
add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add ground pork.
Cook for 3 minutes.
Add luncheon meat and cook for 2 minutes
Add hot dogs and cook for 2 minutes.
Add tomato sauce, broth, fish sauce, bay leaves, sweet pickle relish, ground pepper, tomato paste and sugar.
Add tomato ketchup. Cover and adjust heat to medium.
Cook for 3 minutes until it boils.
Add cheese.
stir to combine and melt the cheese.
Cover.
Cook for 2 minutes.
Turn of heat. Done!
Cool down to make it thicker before serving with pasta.
