SIZZLING TOFU
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Yields: serves 4 as appetizer
1 cup cornstarch
2 blocks extra firm tofu, drained and liquid removed – diced
cooking oil
1 medium size onions, peeled and chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
chopped chilis
SAUCE:
4 tbsp mayonnaise
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp lemon juice
4 tbsp chopped green onions
Pre heat oil to 350 F then fry tofu until golden.
Fry between 4 to 6 minutes.
Remove from the pan.
Make the sauce – combine mayo,soy,lemon and green onions.
Season with salt and pepper.
Meanwhile- pre-heat a saute pan
Add cooking oil
Saute onions and garlic
Add tofu back to the pan.
Combine with the sauce.
If you are serving it sizzling – pre heat a cast iron skillet
then add butter and melt.
Add tofu, garnish with chopped chilis and serve right away.
