CREAMY CHICKEN AND GREEN PEAS (MANOK SA GISANTES)
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Yields: 6 to 8 with steamed rice
4 tbsp cooking oil
1 large yellow onion, peeled and chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 ½ to 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut into 2 bite size pieces
2 Russet Potatoes (medium), peeled and cut into 2 bite size pieces
3 to 4 tbsp fish sauce, patis
½ tsp ground pepper
1 box (4 cups) chicken broth
3 can senorita green peas
1 can quail eggs (remove water)
1 can Nestle Table Cream dissolved in ½ cup water
2 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in ½ cup water
Pre heat oil for a minute and sauté onions for 3 minutes.
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add chicken and potatoes with patis and cook for 5 minutes until brown.
Add broth, ground pepper. Bring to a boil. Cover and cook for 10 minutes until potatoes are soft.
Uncover.
Add quail eggs and nestle cream.
Stir.
Adjust heat to medium.
Add cornstarch slurry. Keep stirring until sauce is creamy and thick. (2 minutes)
Turn off heat. Serve with steamed rice.
